The site of the proposed development is located just off the main Dublin-Sligo road at the Red Cow roundabout on the north side of Longford town. It will involve the construction of a number of large commercial buildings, related parking, accesses and services. The site is near a ringfort, located to the north. Nine trenches were excavated in two stages across the site during July and August of 2004. The same three contexts were identified in all nine trenches. The excavation of the trenches revealed no evidence of any archaeological activity on the site.
