An assessment was carried out at the site of a canal crossing over the Park Canal, Limerick city, as part of the ongoing Corbally link road. Phase 1 of this road has been completed. Phase 2 will be built through a former landfill site. As a result of this, it was agreed to test the area of the canal crossing only. No archaeological remains were identified during the assessment. The entire development area consisted of made-up ground, which, at the canal crossing, was c. 3m deep.
