Testing was carried out at Kilfergus, Glin, Co. Limerick, on 3 and 4 August 2004. The proposed development involves the construction of 23 two-storey detached houses with garages, site entrance and ancillary works. It is situated to the immediate north-west of Kilfergus church and graveyard, SMR 18:1 and 2.

Four trenches with perpendicular offsets at 10m alternate intervals were opened. The trenches had a cumulative total length of 920m. Generally the stratigraphy was uniform throughout, consisting of a sod and topsoil layer overlying a mid-brown silty clay over natural sand and gravel. The average width of excavation was 2m and the average depth was 0.35m. Testing exposed a single field drain running north-north-east/south-south-west to the south of the site. Finds retrieved included six glass fragments, an assortment of modern tableware sherds, ceramic pipe and red brick.
