An enclosure was identified during testing and monitoring of this site by Avril Hayes in 2002 (Excavations 2002, No. 1186, 02E1782). A single test-trench was excavated across the north-western portion of the site to re-examine these deposits.
Archaeological deposits were revealed in the trench suggesting a double-ditched enclosure and confirming the nature of the deposits identified by Hayes in 2002. Excavation of the enclosure was subsequently carried out under licence number 04E1454 (see No. 1008, Excavations 2004).
