Testing was undertaken of a proposed development site at Deebert, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick. The development consisted of the demolition of a 19th-century mill and the construction of a hotel on and adjacent to its site. Four trenches were excavated on the proposed development site, located within the footprint of the proposed hotel. The material uncovered in the trenches would appear to relate to the use of the site during the 19th and 20th centuries and modern disturbance in the form of pipes and pipe trenches was also apparent. Two walls uncovered in Trenches 1 and 2 had red-brick components and a cobbled surface exposed in Trench 1 was set into material containing inclusions of glass, crockery and a clay-pipe stem, which are likely to date to the 19th century. No features or finds relating to activity pre-dating the 19th century mill complex were uncovered in the test-trenches.
