A large deposit of burnt limestone (15m by 30m by 0.5m) overlying possible cut features was found in the vicinity of the site of Coreen Castle (SMR 5:1). The dumped material may have been waste from a limekiln or may possibly be prehistoric in date. Full excavation will take place in early 2005.
