Pre-development testing was undertaken on a development of five townhouses in Clontemple, Ballingarry. The site is located to the east of a church and graveyard, castle and holy well. A portion of the east wall of the church is extant; there are no traces of the castle or holy well. A modern Church of Ireland church is located within the archaeological complex.
Four trenches were excavated on the footprint of the entranceways, house sites and gardens. The topsoil varied in depth from 1.3m to 0.6m and included a lot of modern rubbish. The subsoil was an orange sandy clay. No archaeological stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded in the trenches.
