An impact assessment including testing was carried out at Ballinena, Newcastle West, in advance of the construction of a single house and associated works. The development is located beside the zone of archaeological potential for an enclosure. Four trenches were excavated on the site, varying between 10m and 20m in length by 1.5m wide. A linear feature was identified in one of the trenches. It is likely that this feature may be related to the adjacent monument.
