Testing was carried out on a site in a pasture field on the western outskirts of Ardagh village but located within the boundary of the historic town of Ardagh. Eighteen trenches were excavated on the footprint of four houses with ancillary works, including access roads and connection lines to public foul sewer, at the development site. In all trenches the topsoil was removed to the depth of the subsoil. No archaeological stratigraphy or finds were uncovered during testing.
