The proposed development, to consist of eighteen houses, accesses and connection to the village sewerage scheme, is on the southern outskirts of Leitrim village. The site is near SMR 27:26, a castle, and a ringfort. The extreme eastern portion of the site has been extensively infilled recently, corresponding with the proposed green area, and was not tested. The remainder of the site was tested through the excavation of ten trenches, 1m wide and ranging in length from 20m to 80m. Testing took place in May 2004. All trenches were excavated to a depth of 0.35–0.6m. There was no evidence of archaeological activity on the site.
