The proposed development is an extension to a house facing onto the east side of the north-southoriented street within Jamestown. It is located within the zone of archaeological potential for the walled post-medieval town of Jamestown, the northern wall of which is situated immediately south of the proposed development site. Monitoring was carried out in November 2004. No evidence of any archaeological features or materials was uncovered during the course of the excavation.
