The development at Ballyroan Road, Rathmoyle, Abbeyleix, consists of the construction of 45 houses, ancillary site works and services and is located northeast of a ringfort (SMR 24:28). The north section of the site has been destroyed by the construction of the Abbeyleix golf clubhouse.
Monitoring was undertaken on all groundworks associated with the development. This included topsoil removal, roadway excavation, digging of house and boundary wall foundations, storm drains, sewers, water mains and hedgerow removal. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded on the site.
