Archaeological assessment was undertaken at the above site by John Tierney (Excavations 2003, No. 1028, 03E0707), as a result of which nine archaeological conditions, including further testing, were attached to the grant of planning for the site. Further testing was undertaken in March 2004. Six trenches were excavated revealing later medieval and post-medieval deposits. Part of a stone-built building dating to the later medieval period was uncovered at the site's street frontage. The remainder of the trenches contained deposits of grey clay with pits and gullies cut through. Medieval and post-medieval pottery was recovered from the features. This site was further excavated by Emmet Stafford (see No. 903, Excavations 2004).
