Testing was carried out at Jigginstown, Naas, Co. Kildare, between 28 and 30 September 2004. The proposed development involves the construction of 266 dwelling houses with associated services on a 10.42ha site. The development is situated to the immediate south of five recorded monuments, the Jigginstown archaeological complex (SMR 19:32, 19–32(01, 02), 19:33(03), 19:34).
Nineteen trenches were excavated throughout the extent of the proposed development. A large number of regularly spaced west-north-west/east-south-east plough furrows, a probable west-north-west/eastsouth-east boundary ditch and a stone-filled field drain were noted. None appeared to represent the presence of significant archaeological deposits.
