Testing and excavation at three places within Dowdenstown Great and Donode Big found nothing of archaeological interest. These were: Area 1, on the eastern boundary of the development and Dowdenstown Great; Area 2, on top of a high drumlin-type feature close to the western boundary of Dowdenstown Great; and Area 3, at the south-west of the development in Donode Big townland.
