Monitoring was carried out during the excavation of holes to construct a perimeter fence around Castletown House, Celbridge, Co. Kildare. All excavated holes measured c. 0.5m by 0.5m and were excavated to a depth of c. 0.4m. In the majority of the holes, cobbled surfaces were identified. In all cases these were thought to be related to the farmyard and farm buildings that are in the area proposed for the fencing. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified.
