Testing was undertaken at a development site at Nelson Street, Athy. The site is located on the western side of the town and partially located within the zone of archaeological potential. Three trenches were excavated, the results of which indicated that the formation material associated with the existing concrete surface of the site lay directly upon the surface of the 'natural' subsoil. Nothing of archaeological interest or potential was uncovered.
