Monitoring of ancillary works for the M7 Heath–Mayfield motorway scheme, Contract 4, was undertaken from January to June 2004 in counties Kildare and Laois (see No. 933, Excavations 2004 for townlands crossed in County Laois). Four sites of archaeological significance were identified in the course of the monitoring. Ballydavis 2, Co. Laois, was excavated by Deirdre Murphy (No. 936, Excavations 2004, 04E0856) and the others were resolved under the monitoring licence (see No. 836, Excavations 2004, Kill A, Co. Kildare; No. 934, Ballydavis A, Co. Laois; No. 939, Cappakeel C, Co. Laois).
