This development involved the renewal of water mains in Edward Street, Tralee. A trench 1m by 1m by 1–1.7m was excavated mechanically, while smaller connections to individual premises off the main line were made at a later stage (these trenches were shallow and did not require monitoring). It was found throughout the trench that the area had been backfilled, mostly in this case due to services in the area: water, sewerage, gas and the original water main. The layers visible in the section varied but generally were composed of 0.2m of concrete road surface, 0.3m of hardcore and 0.6m of loose redeposited clay. The base of the trench was limestone bedrock in Lower Edward Street and further north was composed of yellow clay. No archaeological deposits were recorded.
