An impact assessment was undertaken at Ballinorig South for a development of six houses. An enclosure lies within the development site. It is intended to preserve the archaeological site as a 'green area' within the development. A machine was used to excavate fifteen test-trenches, which encompassed the house foundations, roadway and percolation areas. The topsoil consisted of a mid-brown silty clay loam varying in depth from 0.15–0.3m. The natural subsoil was a compact clay. A series of furrows and modern drainage features were recorded in the trenches. Natural limestone bedrock was encountered in two trenches.
No archaeological features or artefacts were recorded in any of the trenches.
