Monitoring of this site in advance of a housing development was undertaken in October 2003 (Excavations 2003, No. 827, 03E1643), when a number of possible archaeological features were identified. These were subsequently excavated under the current licence. Three pits were excavated at the western edge of the development (Area A) and one at the southern end (Area B). The pits in Area A were circular in plan and had similar fills of fire-cracked stone. The pits were 0.65m, 1.1m and 1.7m in diameter each and 0.4m, 0.3m and 0.3m deep respectively. A sample of charcoal was retrieved from one of these pits. The one pit in Area B was again circular in plan, measured 1.05m in diameter by 0.25m in depth and showed evidence of in situ burning.
