A single undated pit with a high charcoal content was examined on the N21 Castleisland–Abbeyfeale road improvement scheme. The pit was an elongated oval shape, measured 2.7m by 1.23m and was 0.19m deep with a concave base. Five fills were recorded and these probably represent deliberate and sequential backfilling. The pit may be associated with medieval metalworking excavated by Kate Taylor (see No. 767, Excavations 2004, 04E0975).
