A low mound of burnt stone with associated remnants of a wood-lined trough was excavated on the N21 Castleisland–Abbeyfeale road improvement scheme. The burnt stone formed a crescent shape in plan with maximum dimensions of c. 13m by 12m and was up to 0.75m thick. The trough was located at the northern side of the mound, adjacent to a natural spring. The trough was broadly rectangular in plan and measured 1.9m by 1.16m. Only three base planks of the timber lining survived.
