Testing was carried out in association with the construction of eight terraced and two semi-detached houses and site works at Beaufort, Killarney, Co. Kerry. All the trenches were excavated using a track machine with a flat bucket. The topsoil contained many sherds of modern pottery and glass and occasional red brick and was removed to an average depth of 0.4m. The subsoil was mid-yellow/brown sandy clay. Occasional cultivation furrows orientated east to west were recorded. The foundation of an orchard wall, which had been demolished in the area of the development site, was uncovered. No archaeological stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded.
