Two test-trenches were excavated within the zone of archaeological potential of SMR 29:122 in advance of geotechnical ground investigation works on the proposed Tralee bypass. Trench 1 measured 8m by 2m. The sod and the topsoil overlay the natural boulder clay that was exposed 0.35m below ground level. Trench 2 was 12m by 2m and had similar stratigraphy. No archaeological deposits were encountered during the testing.
