Monitoring was carried out at Corofin, Co. Galway, in February 2004 at a proposed development of sixteen houses located within an archaeologically sensitive area containing two monuments, a tower-house and associated old (possibly medieval) road. The stratigraphy of the site presented topsoil overlying a mixed natural layer of orangey clay and greyish-brown sand. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during the course of these works. Subsequent monitoring revealed the presence of inhumations and the licence was transferred to Tom Rogers (No. 679, Excavations 2004).
