Pre-development testing was undertaken at an extension to a supermarket at North Gate Street, Athenry. A single trench was mechanically excavated. The stratigraphy revealed consisted of sod and topsoil 0.4m deep overlying a natural grey marl. No artefacts or features of archaeological significance were uncovered in the course of testing.
