Pre-development testing was undertaken in compliance with a condition from Galway County Council. A single trench, located at the rear (north side) of an existing dwelling house, was mechanically excavated. The removal of sod uncovered a mixed grey layer with moderate stone inclusions. This layer extended for the length of the trench and was 0.3m in depth. Occasional fragments of glass and pottery were recovered from this layer, all of which were 20th century in date. Underlying this layer there was a grey/yellow boulder clay. No features or artefacts of archaeological significance were encountered.
