Monitoring of an access road for a proposed caravan park at Rushin, Belcoo, Co. Fermanagh, took place on 10 December 2004. Only the upper portion of the current access road is to be modified, in that it will be moved away from the 10th-century Templerushin church and graveyard to its immediate east. This new portion of road will link the B52 to the existing access road to the south of the graveyard. Although the entire area of the proposed caravan park will eventually be subject to topsoil-stripping, only the area of the modified access road was stripped during this phase of the work. The area under investigation measured c. 80m north-south by 6m wide.
No remains of either aboveground or subsurface archaeological deposits were identified during topsoil-stripping of the modified access road. In particular, no archaeological evidence was uncovered that would suggest that the graveyard associated with Templerushin church to the immediate north-east extended westwards into the area of the new access road.
