Monitoring of subsurface works as part of the Ringsend amenity scheme was carried out throughout late 2003 and 2004. The scheme entailed repaving and refurbishment of street furniture in the centre of the village, which was a medieval settlement. No deposits which pre-date the 19th century were encountered in the works, which were quite shallow.
