Monitoring was carried out on preparatory groundworks associated with the construction of an extension to the rear of Clay Cottage, Dublin Road, Lusk, Co. Dublin, on 20 September 2004. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential of Lusk village (SMR 8:10). Foundation trenches for a single-storey extension to the cottage were excavated by a mechanical digger over an area measuring 11.25m by 6.26m. This area was covered in tarmac, some of which overlay a thin concrete base. Some recent drainage ditches that had been put in place to prevent the flooding of the cottage were uncovered during the excavation of the foundation trenches. Nothing of archaeological interest was recorded.
