The site is located in Cherryfield Lawn, off Hartstown Road, a mainly residential area of Dublin 15. Fingal County Council has granted planning permission for the construction of sheltered/healthcare residential units and a daycare/healthcare centre. There are no known archaeological sites on the proposed development site. In 2002, investigations were carried out at the site to determine the subsurface strata in relation to the preliminary foundation design. In all, nineteen pits were dug, to a maximum depth of 2.9m. The relevant authorities requested no archaeological presence for these works.

Further trial pits, dug with archaeological attendance, were carried out in early June 2004, with monitored topsoil-stripping undertaken later in the same month. No archaeological features or artefacts were identified during monitoring of the digging of the trial pits or the topsoil-strip.
