Testing was undertaken at a development site located at Parnell Street, Granby Place and rear Parnell Square West. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential for Dublin city (SMR 18:20). Cartographic sources indicate that no major developments on the site were undertaken until the mid-18th century and that such was confined to the Parnell Street frontage. Later developments indicate that the site contained a mixture of residential and business premises. A garage was opened on part of the site in the mid-1920s and in later years this was expanded across the site to become the former Walden Motor premises. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered as a result of testing.
