This assessment was undertaken to assess the impact of the proposed residential development at Merrion on any archaeological heritage located along the course of the small stream which travels through the development zone. A desktop survey had shown that the development area has been subject to significant human influence for several centuries and was near SMR 23:1-4, Merrion Road tower-house site, a dwelling site, an armorial stone and a stone head.
The inspection, undertaken on 14 June, revealed that there are no archaeological sites within the development zone.
