An impact assessment report including pre-development testing was carried out at a proposed development site at 62 Grenville Lane, Dublin. The proposed works, fronting onto Grenville Lane, consist of demolition of the existing structure and the erection of a three-storey-over-basement apartment block and all associated ancillary works. The development site is located within the zone of archaeological potential for Dublin city (SMR 18:20).
Four trenches were excavated in the east and the middle of the yard to the rear of Grenville Lane. The stratigraphic sequence was similar between the four trenches, with natural subsoils evident in all trenches. Nothing of archaeological importance was uncovered.
