An assessment was carried out at Engine Alley and Molyneux Yard off Meath Street in Dublin 8. A single test-trench was excavated at both sites, revealing several layers of post-medieval demolition debris overlying sterile sandy silty clay. No artefacts were recovered from the testing, nor were any structures or features of archaeological interest noted.

Historical and archaeological sources point to the location of the site having been largely undeveloped until the 18th century, owing to it being sited within lands belonging to the medieval church of St Thomas.
