Testing was carried out at the location of a proposed development at No. 32 The Coombe, Dublin. The building proposed for development is both a protected structure listed in the Dublin City Development Plan 1999 and a monument recorded on the Register of Monuments and Places. It is a four-storey building of 'Dutch Billy' type, now derelict and damaged by a recent fire. Testing was carried out between 1 and 7 July 2004. Removal of the overlying concrete floor at the rear of the building (flat-roof extension) and the concrete and rubble fill in the main body of the building was monitored. Subsequent testing was carried out at the locations of the foundation trenches and the drainage trench. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
