An excavation was carried out in advance of the construction of an extension to St Mary's Church, Clonsilla, Dublin. The proposed development site was located within the zone of archaeological potential of SMR 13:17(01), a church site, 13:17(02), a graveyard, and 13:17(03), a graveslab. A test excavation carried out by John Kavanagh during September 2002 identified the presence of human remains on the site (Excavations 2002, AD4, 02E1422). The subsequent excavation uncovered the remains of 32 individuals on the site dating from the early 19th century onwards.
