Test excavation for proposed development works at the above site was undertaken due to the scale of the proposed development and its partial location within the zone of archaeological potential for the site of a cross base. Seventeen trenches were excavated, varying from 9.5m to 50m in length. The trenches varied from 0.15m to 1m in depth dependent on the nature of the underlying subsoil. This subsoil was composed of a light-orange/brown gravel clay in the south of the site and altered in the north and centre of the site to a dark-brown clay subsoil composed of 50% black granite stones. No artefacts or stratigraphy of an archaeological nature were identified during the excavation of these test-trenches.
