A linear spread of charcoal-rich silty clay and heat-shattered stone measuring 1.2m by 0.1m was noted during topsoil-stripping of a new town development. Unfortunately, the feature was destroyed through accidental incursion by heavy machinery before excavation could be scheduled. The site of the feature was investigated afterwards, however, but no evidence could be found in the general vicinity of the feature and it was not therefore thought to have been very substantial.
