This feature was found by Ellen O'Carroll during the first testing phase of the new town project (Excavations 2003, No. 485, 03E1496). The trench remained open until the second phase of investigations but was backfilled by the contractor for safety reasons. It comprised a small subcircular feature containing charcoal-rich silty clay and fire-cracked stone and was situated close to fulacht fiadh Site 9:1 (No. 461 below, 04E0367). When the time came to excavate the site, however, it could not be located, despite extensive searching.
