This site was found during testing at a new town development at Grange, Baldoyle (No. 446, Excavations 2004, 03E1535), and comprised a single sub-circular feature measuring 0.55m by 0.4m by 0.16m. The base was lined with small to medium-sized angular, sub-angular and sub-rounded stones, and the charcoal-rich deposit containing the cremated bone was laid directly over the stony layer. Finally, mid-greyishbrown silty clay was laid over the top as a form of capping or sealing layer. Two small fragments of possible prehistoric pottery were found during cleanup prior to excavation, but no pottery was found directly associated with the feature. Post-excavation analysis is ongoing.
