An assessment was carried out in the townlands of Stapolin and Grange, Baldoyle, Co. Dublin, where it was proposed to construct a large-scale residential development. The site was near a ringfort and a mound site. Nine test-trenches were mechanically excavated investigating anomalies identified during a geophysical survey (Nicholls 2002); no features of archaeological significance were recorded. The geophysical anomalies were found to be a modern field boundary, a land drain and areas of natural limestone outcrops. Monitoring of topsoil-stripping will be carried out as part of the construction programme.
