Monitoring of topsoil removal was carried out in November and December 2004, on behalf of Lisnagarvey Hockey Club, relating to the development of hockey pitches on the site of a former golf driving range at Comber Road, Hillsborough. No archaeological deposits of any significance were apparent during the process of topsoil removal. Several modern drainage channels containing yellow plastic pipe and packed with coarse cut stone ran primarily north-west/south-east and northeast/south-west across the site. These drains had been inserted to improve the drainage of the former golf course.
