Monitoring was carried out at Water Street Bridge, Donegal, during April 2004. The proposed development entails replacement of the existing bridge. The site is within the zone of archaeological potential for Donegal town and in the vicinity of Donegal Castle. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during monitoring works. Stratigraphy at the site comprised loose gravels overlying brittle shale bedrock.
