An underwater archaeological survey lasting one day was undertaken in June 2004 at the site of the construction of a proposed outfall pipe at Reenadisert, Co. Cork. The construction of the outfall pipe is associated with the proposed development of a sewerage collection system at Reenadisert. The proposed system was comprised of a wastewater treatment plant, outfall pipe and a rising main. The underwater assessment was undertaken of an area of seabed 50m either side of the centre-line of the proposed outfall.
The pre-inspection desktop surveys recorded a number of monuments in the vicinity of the development. The proposed wastewater treatment plant is partially within the constraint circle around a fortified house (SMR 105:20(01)) and a country house (105:20(02)). There is also at least one other known site (105:47).
The diver/visual survey did not record the presence of any archaeological remains. The metal detector survey recorded a small number of contacts, some of which were seen to be modern.
