Pre-development testing of a site at Newtown North, Charleville, Co. Cork, was undertaken. The development consisted of the construction of eleven houses on a greenfield site which was partially within the constraint zone for a ringfort (SMR 2:82). A total of 22 test-trenches were excavated on the site within the footprint of the proposed houses. No archaeological finds or features were uncovered.
