Testing was undertaken on behalf of Cork County Council on the route of the N8 Mitchelstown relief Road, which involves the construction of 4.5km of the N8 from Cloonlough, south of Mitchelstown, to the junction of the R513 and the N8, north of Mitchelstown.
During the course of testing (No. 312, Excavations 2004, 04E0890), in addition to the programme of centre-line and offset testing, two target test-trenches (CH Site 19) were excavated at Chainage 2650 (under licence 04E0892) to investigate a section of wall and ditch within Mitchelstown Demesne. No archaeological material was recorded in the trenches.
