Test-trenches were opened in the yard in front of the former Dairygold Co-op retail premises, which were located at the north end of the zone of archaeological potential surrounding Mallow town. The concrete yard surface was found to directly overlie the natural boulder clay in all areas. There were no archaeological features or finds uncovered during the course of testing.
