Testing was undertaken at Derreenataggart Middle, Castletownbere, following an application for planning permission for the construction of five dwellings. The proposed development site is within the zone of archaeological potential for a standing stone. The footprint of each of the proposed houses was tested. In all instances the topsoil directly overlay undisturbed subsoil/bedrock. No archaeology was identified.
